About this site

U-niek.com was started as a hobby project to practice a bit with HTML, PHP and MySQL. Together with that I like to take photos. So why not combine those two and start some kind of photoblog. In this photoblog, it is my intention to share my shots and post new photos as often as possible.

The domain name was an idea of my girlfriend. The Dutch word for 'unique' is 'uniek'. Since my first name is Niek, I though it was a good idea to pick u-niek.com and register it.

As you maybe have mentioned, this site is still (and constantly) under construction. My primary goal is to get it working with Firefox and Internet Explorer. Additionaly, I will try to get it w3c valid.

About Me

I was born 22 August 1979 in Hengelo, The Netherlands. And at this moment, I still live there. In my spare time, I do like to practice some programming and photography. As mentioned before, a small result of that you will be finding here.

During daily life, I study Computer Science at the University of Twente in Enschede, The Netherlands. At the moment, I am interested in Model Checking, System Validation and other Formal Methods. If all goes well, I will be graduating at the begin of fall 2006.

About the camera(s)

I own a Canon Powershot S45, which is a compact camera. Additionaly, I am very glad that I have the opportunity to borrow a Nikon D70 sometimes. Along with this camera, I use a Nikkor AFS DX 18-70 f/3.5-4.5G and Nikkor AF 70-300 f/4-5.6D lens.
